Looking Forward to The Fest 16
Looking Forward to The Fest 16

It’s been three very long years since SPB hit The Fest. Well, it all changes this year – we’re also getting our first taste of Pre-Fest, already in its fifth iteration. With a lineup of something like a million of our favorite bands (Iron Chic, Hot Water Music, Toys That Kill, and Against Me!, oh my!) it’s going to be an active week of live music. Pre-Fest takes place in Ybor City, FL from Oct. 25-26 and The Fest 16 hitting Gainesville from Oct. 27-29.

We’re excited about too many bands to mention, so rather than talk give The Fest the fanboy treatment, we went straight to the performers with one simple question.

What excites you the most about attending The Fest 16?

1

88 Fingers Louie

We are looking forward to seeing old friends, making new onesand seeing some of our favorite bands.
- Dennis Buckley

2

Atom from Atom and His Package

I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing old friends whom I have not seen in about a decade. [Insert: Awwwww.]

I'm also looking forward to standing my kids on top of each other under one giant trenchcoat, putting a monocle and fake mustache on the top one and getting them into shows where they're probably not allowed. Insert: Ewww.]

I'm also looking forward to figuring out how to play at one venue and to see Early Riser at a different venue at the same time. [Insert: Wow. How's he going to do that? He must be smart (and nice, and well dressed and muscular.)]

3

Dead Bars

I just want to see Snapcase.
- John Maiello

4

Direct Hit

Honestly, I'm mostly looking forward to seeing Career Suicide play. My wife and kid are also coming down this year too, so I'm excited to have my partner with me to hang with instead of just wandering around aimlessly with a beer in my hand giving high-fives.
- Nick

5

Hot Water Music

Embracing my brothers and sisters.
- Chuck Ragan

6

Just Friends

Being in the same place with all of our friends from across the country! Prince Daddy, Save Face, Tommy Calderon! It's gonna be super freaking epic!

7

The Flatliners

Reggae Shack and Sangria at Loosey's

8

La Armada

A lot of the people we see at Fest, we also see them in their hometown when we're touring. We're looking forward to having all of them in the same room and play new songs for them.

9

Meat Wave

I'm really excited to see a bunch of friends. It's funny how many people you meet playing music and how many of them end up at the Fest. I'm also really excited to see Superchunk, who aren't my friends...yet.
- Chris Sutter

10

Pkew Pkew Pkew

We are most looking forward to our show and hearing a bunch of drunk people yell our songs back at us, while we ourselves are drunk too.

- Mike

11

Shellshag

And we looking forward to...

Playing!

12

Signals Midwest

Fest is basically a family reunion at this point. I love so many of the bands playing and the people involved. It's just the best. Looking forward to hanging out with our Florida family in Dikembe, playing the Wooly for the first time, gator burritos from Boca Fiesta, the intimate CMC shows, and hopefully some Florida sunshine.
- Maxwell Stern

13

The Copyrights

I'm looking forward to seeing so many of my friends from all over the world in one place... and Pegboy!
- Adam Fletcher

14

The Rememberables

Definitely looking forward to catching (the reunion of) Majority Rule and City of Caterpillar sets, plus all our friends down there: Iron Chic, Screaming Females, Teen Death, Slingshot Dakota, the Scandals, Walk the Plank, etc.
- Binh Ngo
