Hot Topic/Ready the Jet (Jay Adelberg)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2008?

  1. Off With Their Heads - From the Bottom
  2. Chuck Ragan & Austin Lucas - Bristle Ridge
  3. Ninja Gun - Restless Rubes
  4. Paint It Black - New Lexicon
  5. Tim Barry - Manchester

What band did you discover in 2008 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

Git Some! They are the reincarnation of Black Flag - the urgency, the edge, the sheer heaviness that so many bands try and fail to exhibit. It oozes from them naturally.

How will you remember 2008? (In terms of music)

2008 was the year that scene kids fell in love with pop music again. How else do you explain bands like Breathe Carolina?

Vinyl record sales saw a significant increase this year while hard copy sales continued to dwindle. Is this a return to the glory days for vinyl or just a phase? Explain.

There are a lot of people out there who are passionate about music and crave that connection you get to it from the thrill of the hunt. Downloading is easy; being a collector is much harder and more rewarding. I for one hope this trend continues.

What was the most memorable moment for you in 2008? (Can be in terms of anything)

The Fest 7; it was my first Fest both attending and playing. I had heard so many things, and it lived up to all expectations.

What can we look forward to from you in 2009?

I will continue to carry the torch of vinyl expansion, doing my best to support the renewed surge and making quality music available to all those who want it.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2009?

Rival Schools, The Forecast, and Rancid
