Soul Control (Jim Connolly)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. Dinosaur Jr. - Farm

  2. Morrissey - Years of Refusal

  3. Mastodon - Crack the Skye

  4. OM - God is Good

  5. Camera Obscura - My Maudlin Career

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

Not really a band but I heard St. Vincent for the first time and she's great. "Actor" is a great record and she's a really good guitar player and songwriter.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

How heated the debate got over the new Blacklisted record.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

The Jesus Lizard. At first I was slightly apprehensive about it but my wife and I watched a live stream of their set at Pitchfork and before they played he basically said, "This show sucks, come see us at a club show in November" and then dove head first into the crowd. After that I knew it wasn't just another bullshit reunion. I had tickets for the Boston show, but per usual, we said yes to another tour and we left four days before the show. My worst memory of 2009 will be missing that show. As far as who I'd like to see? I'd like to see Jeff Mangum do a NMH set in my living for me and a small group of friends.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

Hopefully some new music and some different types of tours.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

The new Daughters record, the new 108 record, and a solo Noel Gallagher record.
