Scene Point Blank's Favorites: The Year So Far (July 2008)

Posted pre-2010

  1. Lost

  2. Best show on television? No doubt! The writers' strike nearly cancelled things for viewers throughout the world. For some, this might not have been a big deal. But for followers of Lost, this could have been a huge travesty. Thankfully the season was rescued and we were left with yet another cliffhanger that'll have us suffering through months and months of speculation.

  3. Deadliest Catch

  4. If Lost didn't exist, then Deadliest Catch would be the show to religiously follow. Each season gets better and better with more boats, more coverage, and more thrills that leave you wanting more. And while they may have one of the world's most dangerous jobs, they still know how to have a good time. Just look at the pranks the fellows on the Time Bandit pull. I love my Television.

  5. Top Chef

  6. Some people hate reality television. And while I agree that there are horrible shows of the reality nature - Wife Swap, Big Brother, etc. - there are some spectacular ones as well. Top Chef is fantastic and fun to watch, especially if you like to cook. I just wish I had a fraction of the talent these cooks possess. Yes, I too have a culinary boner!

  7. Ice Road Truckers

  8. This show is just mesmerizing to watch. These truck drivers literally drive around on ice - rivers, lakes, and oceans. How crazy is that? Just watching them drive as the ice cracks freaks me out. My hat is off to these men. They're obviously insane but also entertaining.

  9. The Henry Rollins Show

  10. Technically airing re-runs in 2008, The Henry Rollins Show remains one of my favorite things on television this year for obvious reasons. Not only is Henry pissed off and hilarious, but also the show bridges the gaps between politics, social issues, music, and entertainment. Many talk shows attempt to do so, but more often than not just come across as forced. This is quality television for the informed viewer.
