Jeff Byers (Northeast Regional)

SPB: What is your favorite workplace-set TV show?

Byers: While not set in the workplace, I've mostly been watching Survivor of late, which inspired the lyrics to the hit Northeast Regional single "The Archivists." But my wife and I have also been slowly rewatching Mad Men, which is firmly set in the workplace. I've been enjoying Mad Men on rewatch (John Slattery is just a delight when onscreen) but I have to give the crown to The Americans

It can be hard to put into words but The Americans shows how chance encounters with random strangers or the relationships you choose to cultivate can greatly impact a person's life. Here, these random strangers happen to be Russian spies. The show explores other "fun" existential questions alongside The Jennings' journey throughout the series. The first episode highlights the song "Tusk." The series has a satisfying ending. Would recommend after you finish watching 44 seasons of Survivor.

Brand Managers of the Mid-Atlantic
Tor Johnson Records (2023)

Brand Managers of the Mid-Atlantic is a lot to digest. And not just because of its lengthy title. The album itself has 23 tracks and was recorded over many years (2015-2022). The final six tracks are covers, and it’s more a discography feel than a standalone album, at least to me. The main sound of the record is post-hardcore with … Read more
