SPB premiere: "catbath" by Easy Beach

Posted in MP3s on January 26, 2023

Easy Beach, a duo from Detroit, MI, is back with a brand new single and Scene Point Blank is excited to be the first to share it.

"catbath" is the latest in a string of singles as the band puts together their debut album, which will later release on We're Trying Records and Sleepy Clown Records. The song captures their high energy, somewhat anxious punk meets indie rock, with the direct emotional appeal of punk but a more meandering approach.

Easy Beach formed during the pandemic in 2020, featuring longtime collaborators Ian Cruz and Sean Tarolli, and has previously released "Selena Gomez (Took the Name of this Song)" and "Blurry."

And, now, "catbath."

Ian says:

"catbath" has been around the longest of all our songs. It started as a riff in 2009, and was originally a short, minute long jam that Sean and I wrote for our first band. It never had lyrics, or any of the tapping stuff, but the chords hung around until I had something worth playing. The song is kind of about being in a band, or having these expectations of people. I've learned not to hold people to unattainable standards, and respect boundaries. I had to, because as my partner always tells me "not everything is about you."
