Mastiff returns with second album

Posted in Records on January 20, 2024

Mastiff is back with a follow-up to 2021's Leave Me The Ashes Of The Earth (MNRK Heavy) with a new record on the same label, Deprecipice, to release on March 22.

The UK-based heavy band are rooted in metal, sludge, and hardcore, best shown on the new single, "Serrated" below, which also features vocals from Harry Nott (Burner).

“We’ve gone quite a lot towards a hardcore sound...Where the last one was more death metal, this one’s a lot more staccato: a lot more defined, riff-wise," vocalist Jim Hodge says in a press release. "The album’s called Deprecipice, and that pretty much sums up where me and James were when we wrote it,” he adds, referencing the loss of guitarist Ross's mother and Hodge's realization that he was still grieving over the death of his five-day-old son, Isaac, in 2010. “We were both standing back on the edge of a depressive void.”
