Seven)Suns cover Dillinger Escape Plan's One of Us Is The Killer

Posted in Records on June 27, 2023

Seven)Suns, succinctly described as avant-garde classical, has announced a full reimagining of One of Us Is the Killer, originally released by The Dillinger Escape Plan ten years ago. The Seven)Suns variation explores all 11 songs, arranged for violin, viola, and cello, and will release on Silent Pendulum Records on Sept. 29.

Seven)Suns and The Dillinger Escape Plan have collaborated in the past: the group covered "43% Burnt," then performed on two songs on Dissociation, and performed live at the group's farewell shows in December 2017. Additional ties include a track on the Thoughtcrimes debut, and Seven)Suns' debut album, For the Hearts Still Beating, was released on Ben Weinman's Party Smasher Inc label.

Like most 2023 releases, seemingly, the concept began during pandemic shutdowns.

Seven)Suns founder Earl Maneein explains, “I figured transcribing some of the craziest music from one of the craziest bands ever was a good way to pass the time."

Seven)Suns’ collaborations with The Dillinger Escape Plan date back to 2015 when Maneein and his gang grabbed the attention of TDEP’s Ben Weinman with their cover of the band's odd-time mosh anthem, “43% Burnt.” Impressed, Weinman invited Seven)Suns to perform on two songs on TDEP's final album, Dissociation, and he released their debut album, For The Hearts Still Beating, on his label, Party Smasher Inc.
