Kim Deal, best known as the original bassist of The Pixies and a member of long-running The Breeders, has shared a new solo single under her own name, "Coast."

The single originated back in 2000, inspired by a getaway at Nantucket, MA in the off-season, and ultimately took shape in 2020 "after being at her friend Mike Montgomery’s wedding when the house band, The Grape Whizzers, jammed Jimmy Buffett’s 1977 'Margaritaville' with 'revelatory levels of low self-esteem.'

The song was recorded by the late Steve Albini at Electrical Audio studio in Chicago, IL, with a band of Mando Lopez, Kelley Deal, and horns by Chicago marching band Mucca Pazza. The single comes via 4AD record label.
