Habibi covers Kleenex/LiLiPUT & joins KRS too

Posted in Labels on September 18, 2021

The latest in the Kill Rock Star 30th anniversary covers subscription debuted this week: a cover of "Nice," originally written and performed by Kleenex/LiLiPUT and covered by Habibi -- but reinterpreted in Farsi, the native language of vocalist Rahill Jamalifard.

While the cover is the band's first collaboration with the iconic Kill Rock Stars label, it will not be the last. A 2-song EP titled Somewhere is slated for release later this year, with teaser information stating that it "will move the unique four-piece’s sound into the escapism of disco club era New York City, an expansion upon their Detroit-bred garage roots."

Habibi will tour the US East Coast this fall, with plans for the West Coast in early 2022.
