Year of the Sun Records signs deal w/ Relapse

Posted in Labels on June 4, 2010

Official press release: Year of the Sun Records has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Relapse Records. The deal will see all of Year of the Sun's releases being distributed in the United States while also making the label's product available through Relapse's online store. "We take pride in working with forward-thinking labels, and all it takes is one listen to any of the bands on Year Of The Sun's roster to show why Relapse Records is pleased to work with them,” commented Brian O'Neil from Relapse Records. “We anticipate our relationship will be mutually beneficial." Since 2003, Year of the Sun Records has been the home to many of Canada's fastest rising metal bands as the label has helped launch the careers of Farewell to Freeway, Odium, and What's He Building In There while flying the flag for up and coming acts such as Derelict, Misguided Aggression, and Deadwalk. More on Year Of The Sun and the label's roster can be found online. "I think that when you look at the landscape out there as a hard music label, your main focus should be to seek out like minded individuals who share the same passion for discovering new bands that metal fans can both appreciate and respect,” states label head C. Benner. “When we discussed things with Relapse, it just made sense for our label, our artists, and our music to call Relapse home. We're looking forward to developing a long working relationship with them."
