Today Scene Point Blank is pleased to premiere “C Beams” from the upcoming new Fiction EP by Austin’s The Bearer.
The new EP is a co-release between CoinToss Records and Blasphemour Records. The 7" comes on blue vinyl in purple and yellow splatter, with unique pre-sale only foldover covers from each label (limited to just 35 per label).
The song’s title comes from Blade Runner, says vocalist Aaron. “The whole concept of living an amazing life and seeing things no one will ever know about I could identify with as a former soldier. The struggle of wondering if there is more after death has always fascinated me.”
Drummer Colton adds more insight on the making of the track:
We did something with this record that I had never done before. We booked studio time without having a full record written. We were forced to flesh out a couple of songs in a two week period, so we needed some more riffs fast. At about 2 AM I had plugged my guitar in and forced myself to play. I had been listening to a lot of Cursed and Every Time I Die that day and felt the need to write something that didn't slow down or change course much. The entire song consisted of 3 riffs that repeated and lasted about 2 minutes. I came to a road block and couldn't think of a way to end the song without being repetitive so I put my guitar up and brought it to practice the next day. Austin sat with the riffs for a couple of days and came up with the last riff which I think is a perfect shift from the driving pace of the rest of the song and ends it with a relieving and sludgy breakdown.
The Bearer includes members and former members of DSGNS, Spitfire, Vetter Kids, and more.
