Today Scene Point Blank is premiering “Date Me,” a song off the brand new Before the Sun Catches Us All by San Diego’s Squarecrow. The album releases this Friday on La Escalera Records and Swamp Cabbage Records.
With eleven songs in total, the new album shows an emotional journey from the band’s previous release, Rammi Jamms. Singer/bassist Kevin White explains:
Before the Sun Catches Us All is a work of songs that purveys an emotional, physical, and mental imagery of the two years since the release of our last album, Rammi Jamms. The pivotal point of the last two years began when Todd (singer/guitarist) was diagnosed with cancer after we came back from tour, but the somber mood shifted when he conveyed that he wanted to keep moving forward with writing, rehearings, and playing shows despite his condition. The three of us embraced each other and with me taking a greater role with sharing lead vocals, we reshaped our composition to writing songs. His cancer has since gone into remission, and this album echoes those two years, as it a reminder of our fears, our friendships, our love, and our perseverance.
The band will play a record release show at Til Two Club in San Diego this Saturday, and they have upcoming live dates with Allweather scheduled for next month.
