These days, you can find Bay Area hardcore legend Jello Biafra as politically charged as ever, elevating his Alternative Tentacles label as well as fronting Jello Biafra and The Guantanamo School of Medicine. And in true Dead Kennedys fashion, Jello and the group have released a new single, “Blunder Blubber,” in response to the recent death of conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh.
As you would expect, Biafra draws the throughline from Reagan to Trump, rails against Fox News and conservative media, and emphasizes his support for reinstating the FCC Fairness Doctrine. These are fully formed convictions that have been progressing for years, as Biafra describes here:
“So ding dong, Rush is gone. One down, 77 million to go. Enjoy the moment and I hope you dig the song. I wrote it clear back when Clinton was president, and the writing was on the wall. I was hoping I would never have to use it at all, but we sorta had no choice but to update and perform it now.”
