Oklahoma city, OK noise rock band Chat Pile has a new 4-song split EP with Kansas City-based Nerver, out on 10" vinyl on April 13 via Reptilian Records and The Ghost Is Clear Records. The EP features two songs from each band and is called Brothers in Christ. A limited one-sided, silkscreened 12" version is also releasing but has already sold out.
"These tracks were written and recorded after we tracked 'God's Country.' We wanted to use this release as a deliberate excuse to switch gears and fully lean into our more indie and alt-rock tendencies. Slint, Sonic Youth, Guided By Voices, and Starfish's 'Stellar Sonic Solutions' were certainly on our minds at the time," says bassist Stin.
Vocalist Raygun Busch adds that both songs pull from short fiction by Stephen Kind, specifically "The Man Who Loved Flowers," "Strawberry Spring," and "The Jaunt."
Chat Pile released God's Country last year.
Track list:
1) Nerver - Kicks in the Sky
2) Nerver - The Nerve
3) Chat Pile - King
4) Chat Pile - Cut
