"Everything Must Go" from the upcoming Weakerthans tribute

Posted in MP3s on September 21, 2019

Todd Farrell of Benchmarks, Two Cow Garage has unveiled a cover of the Weakterthans' "Everything Must Go!," which appears on the band's Left and Leaving record.

The cover is one of 23 songs included on One Great Tribute! A Love Letter to the Weakerthans, which also includes recordings by Frank Turner, Austin Lucas & The Bold Party, and Wayfarer.

Speaking of his contribution, Farrell says:

I'm really proud to be part of this project. John K Samson is on my Mt. Rushmore of songwriters, and mental health is always at the forefront of my mind. It was a perfect fit...We essentially recorded it over the course of one hour sessions on my lunch break for five days between my house and Jack's (Benchmarks) house. I sent the tracks to my friend Camille Faulkner (Julien Baker, boygenius), and she played violin and sang harmonies on the choruses and absolutely knocked it out of the park. Then I sent it to my friend Scotty Sandwich of Almost People, in Durham, NC, to mix. We barely got it in under the deadline, and it's a testament to the power of Dropbox in a world where no one has the time or money to dedicate a full day to a recording project. I think it came out beautifully, and am incredibly proud.

Listen to the clip below. One Great Tribute! A Love Letter to The Weakerthans releases on Nov. 11, 2019.
