Inspired by his Mobile Homies podcast, rapper Lyrics Born has an upcoming collaborative record called Mobile Homies Season 1, available on April 15.
“Mobile Homies is a podcast that I started during quarantine just so I could stay in touch with my friends,” says Lyrics Born. “We had some of the most in-depth and heartfelt discussions that I’ve ever had, either personally or professionally, and they just so happen to be both. I thought it would be amazing if we turned the podcast into an album series since I’ve always wanted to do a project of nothing but collaborations. The only parameters were to have fun vibing with each other.”
Collaborators include Blackalicious, The Grouch, Rakaa, Dan The Automator, and DJ Cutso.
"Anti," feat. Cutso, is an anti-racism takedown from Lyrics Born (Japanese American) and DJ Cutso (Filipino American), with benefits from the single donated to Stop AAPI Hate.
Netflix viewers may also recognize Lyrics Born from Always Be My Maybe, which also features Sitcom Dad (a collaborator on this release).
