Fresh off their debut 45, The Sleeveens will release a full-length on Feb. 9, a self-titled album coming via Dirtnap Records.
The band was formed by Stef Murphy (Count Vaseline/The Mighty Stef) ,who formed a musical kinship with Stiff Little Fingers guitar tech Jamie Mechan, later adding Ryan Sweeney (Cheap Time) and Eli Steele (Sweet Knives) to the lineup. The name is an Irish term meaning trickster.
"The resulting LP is an homage to the kind of classic punk Chiswick, New Rose and Stiff Records were releasing 45 years before The Sleeveens existed. With earworm melodies and screaming guitars, the foursome have crafted one of the best albums of the year," the label says via the band's bandcamp page, which also just shared the lead single, "Aretha Franklin."
