Andy Rourke, bassist in The Smiths, who passed away in 2023, will release a final album next month. The record comes from the group Blitz Vega. Titled Northern Gentlemen, it releases on April 26 via FutureSonic Records/CEN/The Orchard.
“The album is a diary of the last seven years of the journey that Andy, the band and I went on recording this music as Blitz Vega,” says Kav Sandhu says in a press release of the band's first album. Rourke's Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr also makes a guest appearance on the song "Strong Forever" -- the first recording to feature the two musicians together in 35 years.
Blitz Vega previously released an exclusive 2023 Record Store Day 12" vinyl, Strong Forever, which is also being reissued with two new remixed tracks.
