Coining a new winking subgenre they call sad punk, Queens, NY-based band Sea Urchin has released a 10-song album of "Phil Spector Meat Loafs In Matt Strickland’s Tribute To ‘50s Teen Death Songs", out on April 5 via Ba Da Bing Records.

The record was written in a post-breakup funk and covers the familiar territory in tongue-in-cheek spirit pulling from the wide punk spectrum of subgenres. Lead by Matt Strickland, the group also includes album co-producer Katie Von Schleicher, Nick Jost (Baroness), Julian Fader (Ava Luna), and Nate Mendelsohn (Market).
