Los Angeles, CA based composer Bryan Lee Brown has a new forthcoming album under the moniker of Dark Brown, titled American Instrument, out Sept. 10 via Memory Bulldozer. The record is an 18-track concept record on the self and the other, featuring an array of guest musicians such as Dick Dale, Jon Theodore (QOTSA), Brad Wilk (Rage Against The Machine), Donita Sparks, and John Stanier (Helmet, Battles).
The first single features the late Dick Dale in one of his last recordings, along with L7 guitarist/vocalist Donita Sparks, shared below along with a mini-documentary about the collaboration.
Brown is also know for scores such as Dave Grohl’s HBO series Sonic Highways (2014) and the documentary film What Drives Us (2021). Musically, he has worked as a session musician and played drums for Dick Dale. The album was recorded over a 12-year period at 7 different studios.
