I've spent my entire life falling out with myself, this record was largely written during a time in which despondent self-loathing culminating in the loss of a decade long friendship and love. Touch Heaven is an admission of guilt, a failure to change, and a cry for help in the face of blatant omens.
That's what Jordan Shteif, the vocalist of ASkySoBlack, tells us about the Philadelphia, PA band's brand new LP, Touch Heaven. It's a perfect tone setter for a powerful and emotional record -- the band's second, that just released via New Morality Zine. While the band has a distinct sound honed on early 2000s and late 1990s emo, there's a lot of depth of sound that adds layers to the built-up tension.
It follows 2001's What Is Yet To Come? and a 4-song EP, Autumn in the Water. This time around, the band maintains their heavy sound but with more raw emotion that emphasizes their inner vulnerability and straddles the line between the two delicately yet powerfully.
"As a label, we couldn’t be prouder of ASkySoBlack’s Touch Heaven," New Morality adds. "It’s a masterful evolution of their sound, breaking through genre boundaries to craft something so raw, vulnerable, and profoundly relatable. This is alternative music at its most fearless and heartfelt."
