A third live album from Butthole Surfers comes out on May 9, Live at the Leather Fly, available from Sunset Blvd. Records.  The 21-song recording comes from the band's archives, but specifics and where and when are left unknown at this time.

Instead, the band dreams up its own setting: "Back in the ‘80s, Gibby [Haynes, vocalist/guitarist] used to fantasize about a nightclub called The Leather Fly. He wanted it to have a stuffed leather fly hanging in front of it,” Paul Leary (guitar/vocals) says in a press release.

The first single dates back to the early 1990s.

“We were invited to participate in the first Lollapalooza Festival in 1991. At some point of the tour Gibby got a hold of a toy battery-powered small megaphone that pitched his voice up,” Leary says. “He was annoying everyone within earshot backstage, speaking through it in a rhythmic manner. I found it hysterical enough to write music to it. That became ‘The Annoying Song’.”
