Beach Rats musicians return to their roots

Posted in Records on April 30, 2022

Epitaph Records has announced Beach Rats' self-titled debut album, coming on July 29.

While it is the first album from the band, it features a familiar style and many familiar faces, notably vocalist Ari Katz (Lifetime), guitarist Pete Steinkopf (Bouncing Souls,) bassist Bryan Keinlen (Bouncing Souls,) guitarist Brian Baker (Bad Religion, Minor Threat), and Danny Windas (Let It Burn) on drums.

While the new 12-song record is their first full-length, the group originally released an EP in 2018 and played several live dates. Pandemic-related shutdowns pushed the band back into recording, ultimately leading to the new album.

"We’d go down in the basement, put on masks, open the windows and we could play – within CDC guidelines! We couldn’t go to dinner at each other’s houses but we could practice," Baker says in a press release.
