SPB premiere: DEAD - Burn Us Clean "Vol. II" (with Gay Witch Abortion)

Posted in Records on December 13, 2023

Heavy Australian duo DEAD are fully alive right now, releasing their next LP Burn Us Clean as a series of 9 split singles over the next three months. These splits consist of 9 original songs by DEAD, each paired with a "b-side" from some of their favorite bands: MoE (Norway), Gay Witch Abortion (USA), Defektro (Japan), and Skullfork (Australia).

For this release, each split will be released on limited 7" and digitally and, upon the record's official release, a box set version of the vinyl (already sold out).

Scene Point Blank is excited to give you a first listen to the second split among the series, a collaboration with Gay Witch Abortion of Minneapolis. Listen to "Stitches" below, followed by "Burn Us Clean" as covered by Gay Witch Abortion.

“Like most things DEAD does, it started with 'Hey wouldn’t it be fun if…'" The band says of the project. "And for us 'fun' usually means biting off more than we can chew and pissing off someone in the process.”

The noise rock band refer to this as their "pop project" since working with friends adds a uniquely fun aura to their dense sounds.

Referred to as "Vol. II" of the split series, check out both songs here:

The record doesn't only highlight friendship, but the international reach of music and art.

"We met these delightful fellas [Gay Witch Abortion] on our first US tour and they instantly became the most played band in the tour van," DEAD notes. "Their musicianship is awe inspiring and they write damn good tunes to boot. We just love what they do and how they go about doing it."
