Doom metal with indigenous throat singers collaboration

Posted in Records on September 4, 2022

Italian-Swiss audio engineer, sound designer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Marc Urselli has overseen a new elaborate concept album described as indigenous doom, featuring doom metal musicians from across the planet paired with indigenous singers employing ancient throat signing traditions.

Called SteppenDoom, the album releases on Nov. 18, 2022, but the track "Etugen Eke & Od Ana" was shared earlier in the week to give a feel for the project. The lead single features Matt Pike (High on Fire" and Tuvan vocalist Batzorig "Zorigoo" Vaanchig. The single tells of the Mongolian Earth Goddess and the Goddess of Fire, pre-press explains.

In addition to several notable throat singers, doom musicians include members of Paradise Lost, The Obsessed, and more. The album will release via Magnetic Eye Records.
