Features 40+ bands from many countries, the small stage event takes place this year from July 17-20 in Bergamo, Italy. A few notable acts include the Marked Men, Dopamines, Squirtgun, The Peawees, Hakan, MakwWar, Bricheros, SACK, and more.

One Ride

Many years ago I read an essay about how the difficult-to-decipher vocals of Joe Strummer was part of The Clashโ€™s legacy -- how making the listener not key in just on the words, but the melody and movement instead makes it more effective and more open to interpretation in a good way. That concept stuck with me. A song is โ€ฆ Read more

This is the third album from MakeWar and they have their sound pinned down. I mean that, in the best way possible, A Paradoxical Theory Of Change is exactly what you want from the band. I also note it because, as itโ€™s my third time review them, Iโ€™m trying not to repeat myself. This album introduces a new drummer, Alejandro โ€ฆ Read more

Get It Together
Fat Wreck Chords (2019)

MakeWar arenโ€™t like most of the other punk bands out there. They play what I call midtempo punk. Itโ€™s not built on anthems, choruses or super-fast into-the-pit adrenaline. Get It Together isnโ€™t about fist-in-the-air release, itโ€™s about built-up tension. The band is actively calling for people to (ahem) Get. It. Together. The tone is one of frustration and marginalization, but โ€ฆ Read more
