It's been just over a year since Dominic Mallary, vocalist of Last Lights, passed away. His tragic death truly shocked the entire hardcore community. And while we mourned his death, it also brought it together to honor the life of an amazing individual. I was just searching through old emails and came across a series that he and I sent back and forth just prior to his passing. They say we learn from death and even though it has been a calender year since Dom left us, I still am influenced by him. It truly is a testament to the kind of person he was: a young, vibrant, sincere, and positive spirit. Here's a line from one of his emails; it made me laugh and smile quite a bit. Even in emails his personality shines through:
I love your site. It's the pitchfork of punk rock, if you take that as a compliment haha.
