Challenging, creative and DIY music is the core to most of what we do at SPB. And today's premiere fits that mold perfectly as we share a new song and video from duo Rob Heath + Kirk Schoenherr, "Finger Putty."
The song is just one piece from the upcoming 11-song LP form the project, which will release on Oct. 21 (followed by a release show at Troost in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 22).
Heath and Schoenherr both have impressive, varied backgrounds. Heath has worked with Steve Earle and Aaron Lee Tasjan as well as scoring films and collecting keyboards and vintage drums, while Schoenherr has worked with Chet Faker/Nick Murphy and Elle King, as well as in production.
The two artists started improvisation sessions in early 2020, just before the world shut down, building into what you hear today.
The background is plenty impressive on its own, but what's important is the music itself. Check it out and form your own opinion.
It gets our stamp of approval.
