Happy Tuesday! Let’s begin with a new video premiere from Come Closer, “Harsh Meadows.”
The San Diego, CA punk band returns with its second album next month, announcing We Died With Print, out Dec. 8 and entirely self-produced and self-released – and primarily recorded in drummer Chris Prescott's studio. The lineup features J. Wang (Dan Padilla), Davey Quinn (Tiltwheel), and Prescott (Pinback/Tanner), and is a natural progression from those groups, yet it captures a new direction where DIY punk takes a subtle turn into the indie realm. Think lo-fi, melodic hooks with diverse song structures that aren’t afraid to break punk’s genre confines from time to time.
The band will host a listening party at 5pm PT on Dec. 6, and is planning a record release show that is still to be announced. Limited vinyl is also available at the link -- order now.
In the meantime, check out the first single:
“The video is showing the homeless crisis in Bario Logan, San Diego,” says J. Wang. “‘Harsh Meadows’ is a song about the disparity between the haves and have nots and how it becomes very difficult for people of privilege to understand how easily any of us could fall into this situation.“
Come Closer released Pretty Garbage in 2021.
