Kiss Dreams Goodbye is the newest offering from Alone, a melodic hardcore band hailing for Italy. This release is the band's follow-up to a split and features five brand new songs.

Alone have a fairly unique sound as they're deeply rooted in the melodic hardcore, but they've also got a little bit of an indie/emo thing going as well. "Viva Love" is a building intro that has a Champion-esque feel to it. "The Fear of Time (Part II)" follows; the song mixes more of the Pacific Northwest vibe with later period Turning Point. "Tomorrow" leans towards the styling of traditional emo like Sunny Day Real Estate and Fugazi while "The Fear of Time (Part I)" is a rip-roaring hardcore number. Closer "December" is the most aggressive song of the EP, it's reminiscent of Snapcase a bit and has a nice breakdown.

I like what Alone does because they're not afraid to experiment with their sound. It's obvious they're influenced by a number of different styles. I need to score some free plane tickets to Europe

there's so much great music over there.

Songs of a Lost World
Capitol, Fiction, Lost Music, Polydor/Universal (2024)

It's been sixteen years since The Cure released their last album. I don't know if anyone really knew what to expect, but it's one of the most influential bands in history so expectations were high. The Verdict? Those expectations were met. It'd be silly to say Songs of a Lost World is a "return to form" as the band and … Read more

There are few bands that hit with the mix of raw emotion and musical talent as a live City Mouse show. There are even fewer bands that can capture that live feeling on a record. It’s been a long 7 years since Get Right, but So Far Out keeps it moving as if no time has passed. Of course, the … Read more

Ideally, I would be a bit more interested in art. In visual art- paintings, sketches, MS Paint monstrosities- whatever. I wish I knew more about the meaning of a brush stroke or even had the desire to know more about the meaning of a brush stroke. I spend a lot of time listening to music and, subsequently, I see a … Read more
