The ex members game is a precarious one to play. For every band that bares similarity to it's members past exploit there are just as many that don't bare that mark. So to tell you that Bringers Of Disease share members with Acheron and Mouth Of The Architect should only say a minimal amount as to what this band is about. They share some of the death metal based characteristics of Acheron but only slight bits of the post metal style that have gained Mouth Of The Architect the attention that they have.

What the band does do, however, is play a very clean style of black metal. That is to say it lacks the underproduction of many newer black metal bands. While doing this very well the records own strong production does little to accentuate a darker atmosphere. No matter how strong the slightly more atmospheric pieces of the songs are they do little but give a reprieve and eventually get swallowed up by how heavy the songs really are.

What the listener is presented with is a strong and well played album that lacks a certain desperation and darkness that is necessary for black metal regardless of how clean or poorly produced it may be. This is a very strong start for this band but it certainly belies the members talents.

It's been sixteen years since The Cure released their last album. I don't know if anyone really knew what to expect, but it's one of the most influential bands in history so expectations were high. The Verdict? Those expectations were met. It'd be silly to say Songs of a Lost World is a "return to form" as the band and … Read more

There are few bands that hit with the mix of raw emotion and musical talent as a live City Mouse show. There are even fewer bands that can capture that live feeling on a record. It’s been a long 7 years since Get Right, but So Far Out keeps it moving as if no time has passed. Of course, the … Read more

Ideally, I would be a bit more interested in art. In visual art- paintings, sketches, MS Paint monstrosities- whatever. I wish I knew more about the meaning of a brush stroke or even had the desire to know more about the meaning of a brush stroke. I spend a lot of time listening to music and, subsequently, I see a … Read more
