I fall somewhere in between Zed and Shane on this CD. I found some minor enjoyment in it, but there are a lot of musical flaws. It simply doesn't fit together very well. A lot of bands are trying to mix a lot of different sounds, but they shouldn't have to struggle to do it, this band clearly has problems trying to come together with a unique sound. They have some slight potential, but I'd be surprised if any of their future releases get my loins a-jonesn'.

The latest addition to FBR's roster. I gave this 5 song EP a listen not knowing what to expect. I think I might have been better off not knowing what it was. This band seems very unsure of what they want to be. Not terribly bad music (besides the terrible drum screw up 1:14 into the third song) but they have this guy screaming over the singing that doesn't fit in the least bit. It was more annoying than anything. The second song starts off with this chugga chugga riff and their screamy singer takes over. Bands with diversity are ok but none of this material fits together at all. I really am just not feeling this in the least bit.

With a name like Kissing Chaos you just want to get a teddy bear and kiss it. Or maybe I just made that up for a creative intro to a review. Which is ironic, because this isn't the most creative CD. They do use violins for the end of a song, and that would have been original if it hadn't been done before. I like the contrast of vocals, very smooth leading vocals with screaming back ups. That's been done too, but the smooth vocals were different than other bands that do it in this manner. The screams sound forced at times, but for the most part are sexual. As much as I'm "hatin" on this CD, I still enjoy it. It's above average, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's good. Certain parts of the songs were really good, this seems to be happening a lot with bands trying to integrate lots of different parts in their songs, the second half of the first song in particular. I know that's not one part, but the first half isn't nearly as good.

Songs of a Lost World
Capitol, Fiction, Lost Music, Polydor/Universal (2024)

It's been sixteen years since The Cure released their last album. I don't know if anyone really knew what to expect, but it's one of the most influential bands in history so expectations were high. The Verdict? Those expectations were met. It'd be silly to say Songs of a Lost World is a "return to form" as the band and … Read more

So Far Out

There are few bands that hit with the mix of raw emotion and musical talent as a live City Mouse show. There are even fewer bands that can capture that live feeling on a record. It’s been a long 7 years since Get Right, but So Far Out keeps it moving as if no time has passed. Of course, the … Read more

Ideally, I would be a bit more interested in art. In visual art- paintings, sketches, MS Paint monstrosities- whatever. I wish I knew more about the meaning of a brush stroke or even had the desire to know more about the meaning of a brush stroke. I spend a lot of time listening to music and, subsequently, I see a … Read more
