Singles are something I usually avoid when reviewing. I find it difficult to say something that makes sense with so little to work with. For Pilkington I’ve made an exception. They offered me two singles. The four songs combined clock in at almost 14 minutes. I can deal with that! 

Pilkington is an indie band from Philadelphia. They released their two singles in January and February this year. Black RD Records released both singles on cassette, or cassingle as the band calls it. How hipster… Let’s first have a look at the first single, All Around The Neighborhood. As the title track starts kinda rocky with a strong powerpop mood. Singer Becca has a very charming voice that sounds very innocent. The song builds ends in a nice climax where she’s backed up by shouting backing vocals. The B-side to this single is "Toeing Borderline" which is song by (I’m guessing here) Edward. His voice is a little bit hoarse. This song is way less catchy and a little bit depressing. I’m not a big fan of this song. I’m not sure if it’s the simple twinkling guitars or just not digging Edwards voice very much (especially after listening to Becca first).
