Not to be confused with Neil Diamond's Song Sun Blue and I draw no real comparisons to that classic housewife panty-wetting meandering staple of heart-melting, throbbing, pulsing underlying sexual tension in Diamond’s piercing, crooning, come hither and watch me slither succubus style. Come to me, look into my eyes… look deep into my eyes. This leads me to a small story with no relevant meaning beyond that I once had two women fighting over a Neil Diamond Tour Shirt I sold on eBay. There are no rules in times of Diamond Wars!
Well glad I got that off my hairy, gold chain-adorned man boobs.

Now for the rest of the story……

Psing Psong Psung (say that 10 times fast) is a band made up of Ricky Sepulveda, Dirk Vandenberg, Raul Morales, Ray Farrell, Vince Meghrouni in collaboration with Raymond Pettibon (for all Patrick Starfish’s Living Under a Rock…Pettibon is Greg Ginns brother and he did a lot of the artwork for SST releases and more…. History lesson is over..). Pettibon was the scribe and sang on two songs while Sepulveda took the reigns on vocals for the remaining output.

Only Fam has been on my turntable numerous times trying to decipher the ancient code within the red grooves. Records (not vinyls folks) that lure you in with non-barbed hooks and pull you out of your watery existence long enough for you to suddenly gasp before you are thrust back into the body of water before you have been snagged again in the leg-wrapping weeds. There are tiny treasures encapsulated within the Polyvinyl Chloride. Psing Psong Psung melts Paisley Underground with New York’s early “Punk” pioneers Television and throws in a little Richard Hell and the Voidoids musical harvest and a slight Romilar head nod to Lester Bangs and the Delinquents- Accidents of God and even the sorely missed and sadly forgotten Thin White Rope.
Basic instruction before leaving Earth- purchase this. It is an essential spin for connoisseurs of fine wines, peaty scotches and vinyl nerds who flout and pout and ponder the meaning of life through articulating obscure bands to those who have not been educated or exposed to much beyond the latest Taylor Swift LP. So if you want to Psing Out, Psing Out.
Good Bye Baby!

Painkiller

The Great God Pan
Tzadik (2025)

Painkiller, the trio of John Zorn, Bill Laswell, and Mick Harris shows no signs of slowing down. The Great God Pan is their third full-length, since their reunion in 2024, and in many ways it is an unexpected offering. In keeping with their interests in the metaphysical realm, Painkiller find inspiration from the famed Arthur Machen horror novella. Here, the … Read more

Painkiller

The Equinox
Tzadik (2025)

Painkiller sees three absolute masters of extreme music join forces. John Zorn of Naked City and a billion other projects, Mick Harris who transcended from Napalm Death drummer to illbient guru with Scorn, and producer extraordinaire Bill Laswell. Their first two records, Guts of a Virgin and Buried Secrets are strange meditations traversing between free-jazz, grindcore and dub. Still hungry … Read more

Dauber

Falling Down
Recess (2025)

The lazy approach would be to call Dauber "ex-Screaming Females," but that barely scratches the surface. If I had to pick one band to namedrop a comparison to, it would be labelmates Night Court. They play a familiar style but with a lot of quirks that set it apart from the genre standard-bearers. It's driving and energetic -- more importantly, … Read more
