Act II is the second in a series of three 7" to come from Sakes Alive!! and this one picks up where the hardcore group last left off. "The Open Maw" builds on the band's hardcore punk sound with a slight rock and roll influence. It's a fitting addition for the group that gives the song some added flavor. "Big Bang" is a visceral hardcore punk tune that brings to mind Paint it Black's New Lexicon. You get gritty, raw hardcore punk with deep throated gruff vocals. It sounds like vocalist Chris Vandeviver has been gargling shards of glass as of late. "Image of Modern Man" is a bit more straightforward and uses more melody to infuse the song with a more energetic feeling.
Sakes Alive!! deliver another solid EP. I can't wait for Act III to arrive so that the band can begin working on a full-length.
