The Royal We EP

I don't get too excited about new bands anymore. However, Seagulls recently swooped into my radar and have me pumped for sing-a-longs. If you're a fan of the guttural vocals of Fucked Up and the melodic pop-punk riffs of Latterman, then this is right up your alley. The band's new EP, The Royal We, will have you fist pumping through the roof.

The opening track , "The Implication," is the perfect indication for what you can expect from the rest of the EP. It's loud and boisterous. One of the better pop-punk songs I've heard this year so far. The rest of the EP doesn't stray from the formula. "Darryl Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Close One" are rife with gang vocals and catchy melodies. 

They pick up the momentum with "F.F.M." It's a little faster and more aggressive, leaning more towards melodic-hardcore. It's the shortest track on the album, but packs a punch. The last song, "Santa's Little Helper," closes the out the EP with a sad, but uplifting tone. Plus, a Simpsons reference is always a plus.
