A mere 6 months after We Are Horror Records released Horrorpunk's Not Dead! Vol.1, which for those that don't know was 27 tracks of horrorpunk gloriousness with a whole host of exclusives, we are treated to Vol.2 which boasts almost double the amount of tracks from Vol.1. Out of these 50 tracks, 22 songs are previously unreleased, never heard before, tracks from a variety of horrorpunk artists. Not only do we have all of these bands to listen to but the whole album is bookended by, and features an unfolding zombie apocalypse wraparound story throughout by one of my all time favourite bands...featuring intro and skits by B'Hellmouth, lead ghoul of Send More Paramedics and ending with one of the best tracks from their 2021 album The Final Feast "Human Capital"! This for me is like releasing the trioxin into the coffin once the final nail has been hit and watching it shake in undead awesomeness!!
A broad spectrum of the horrorpunk community have contributed a track to this epic compilation. With previously unreleased tracks from The Deathtones, Von Boldt, Tomb Of Nick Cage, Johnny B Morbid, Skullfuck Maniacs, Drollery and The Creepy Crawlers to name but a few. Other bands include A Living Hell, Lesbian Bed Death, Molly Fancher, Left Hand Black, RatBatSpider and The Spauldings have all donated a song to the cause. Like I said, there is a huge selection of horrorpunk to satisfy the vast range that is the horrorpunk genre as a whole. There is every style from pop-punk, psychobilly, goth rock, punk rock, old school Misfits style and my personal favourite death/ horror rock and a bit of thrash!!! There really is something for everyone and the best thing about this comp is that there is so much content you are to bound find a band on here you are unfamiliar with and will no doubt want to check out further. Thanks We Are Horror Records!! I've certainly enjoyed discovering some new (to me) bands.
Obviously the main draw about the horrorpunk genre are the many different horror themes and the way they portray them. We have ghosts, phantoms, witchcraft, murder, true crime, zombies, monsters, vampires and slashers. These guys have it all covered. To be totally honest stand out tracks for me are ones that I was already familiar with but it just proves how good they are as songs to continue to hold up so well amongst so many others. Coffin Carousel lend my favourite song "March Of The Dead" from their latest album Order of the Bat and I will never get bored of Send More Paramedics "Human Capital" so they will always be my favourites, however ENERGY, The Deathtones, Von Boldt and Molly Fancher also know how to smash out some quality tunes. Like I say there really is something for everyone and I'm sure arguments will happen over which tracks are the best.
The artwork for Vol.2 was designed and created by We Are Horror Records creator Dan Phillips who has put his heart and soul into both his beloved compilations. Showing his passion for all things undead with an awesome punk zombie complete with a Horrorpunk's Not Dead back patch shambling about a neon apocalyptic wasteland. It is proper eye catching! On the whole, all 50 tracks are well thought out in terms of tracklisting and have a great mix of styles. It is well mixed and flows really nicely.
Horrorpunk's Not Dead! Vol.2 is a welcome follow up to Vol.1 and both are must haves for any self proclaimed horrorpunk fan out there. Horrorpunk's Not Dead! Vol.2 was released on April 28th and the limited number of physical double CD album editions sold out in a couple of weeks so the only way to get hold of it now is digitally via We Are Horror Records bandcamp page https://wearehorrorrecords.bandcamp.com ... dead-vol-2
