SPB: What was your favorite release of your label in 2006 (including anything that will be released by the end of the year)? Why?
Definitely the Stop At Nothings Legends Never Die CDEP due to the fact that the band was so stoked to be on the label and we felt like heroes getting out a record that was unfortunately sitting around so long due to their last label folding.
SPB: How will you remember 2006? (in terms of music)
Too many reunions, too many arguments over stupid things, too many people backstabbing each other over junk that doesnt matter to begin with, too many labels and not enough good bands, and Justin Timberlake bringin sexyback.
SPB: What do you see as the role of labels in 2007 and beyond?
A definite division between "big" and "small" labels. Theyll be no middle ground. A lot of labels shutting down or re-emerging with different plans on how they operate, with hopefully more emphasis on vinyl and less on CDs. iTunes and other mp3 sites ruling the world.
SPB: Top five releases of 2006? (not on your label)
(I got 4, not in any order):
- Fucked Up - Hidden World (Jade Tree)
- Converge - No Heroes (Epitaph)
- The Hope Conspiracy - Death Knows Your Name (Deathwish/Malfunction)
- Isis In Absence of Truth (Ipecac)
SPB: Any previews/hints/facts of what you will be releasing in 2007?
Well go huge or quit. Either way itll be fun.
SPB: Whats your main goal of 2007 (labelwise)?
Unknown. See above.
SPB: Predictions of trends in 2007 (music related (and more if you want))?
Please, no more reunions.
