Bastards of Young

(Sean Hills)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009?

  1. Chris Wollard and the Ship Thieves - Chris Wollard and the Ship Thieves

  2. Dinosaur Jr. - Farm

  3. Pearl Jam - Backspacer

  4. Elvis Costello - Secret, Profane & Sugarcane

  5. Bouncing Souls - Ghosts on the Boardwalk

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

This year I discovered a small band from Redmond, Oregon called Larry and His Flask. They're absolutely incredible. They play up-tempo acoustic music with the energy of a punk band and they put on one of the best live performances I've seen in a long time.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

Honestly, I'll probably remember this as the year that Michael Jackson died.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

The only thing that comes to mind right now was the Jawbox reunion on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. That was pretty cool.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

We've been dragging ass on finishing our next record, but it's coming along and we're pretty confident that we're going to get it done in time for next summer. Fingers Crossed.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

I've always been a little behind the curve when it comes to up and coming music. Usually I'm just pleasantly surprised when I come across something new at the record store. I heard a rumor that The Swingin' Utters are putting out a new record next year. So that's exciting.
