This Is Hell (Rick Jimenez)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. Trapped Under Ice - Secrets of the World
  2. Incendiary - Crusade
  3. Death Before Dishonor - Better Ways To Die
  4. Gravemaker - Home Is Where The Heartache Is
  5. Outbreak - Outbreak

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

I don't actually think I discovered any new band in 2009, none that are popping out at me at least right now. I gained a greater appreciation for Trapped Under Ice and Death Before Dishonor though after touring with them and becoming obsessed with both their new joints though. How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

I'll think largely about the music from the 10 for 10 tour. One of the most fun tours I've ever been on with so many great bands personally and musically. I'll also think of immersing myself in Metallica, Anthrax, Cro-Mags, Megadeth and DRI even more than I had in 2008. I actually listened to a lot of The Beatles this year too. Their weird shit is so weird. 2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

Vision of Disorder in ?09 was the sickest for me. The fact that we did a bunch of shows with them over the year made it even better. DRI is doing shows in 2010, which I'm siked about! I wish NWA would reunite but that wouldn't really work being that Eazy E's still dead. What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

A new This is Hell record on Rise in June, a new Soldiers record on Trustkill at some point and a new Ice Age record in spring on Motel Art. We'll be doing so much touring with This is Hell this year that I will be missing every WWE pay-per-view after the Royal Rumble probably all the way through Summer Slam. What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

This is Hell, Soldiers and Ice Age. Website Link (Website/Myspace/Blog/Etc.): http://www.myspace.com/thisishell

Each year in late May, the 4-day party and noise-rock festival Caterwaul takes over multiple venues in Minneapolis. It’s a stacked lineup this year, to put it mildly, with each night’s headliners FACS, Young Widows, Naw, Pissed Jeans, and Uniform -- and that’s leaving a ton of other great bands … Read more
