SPB premiere: "Fastest Man Alive" by Dad Hats

Posted in Videos on January 10, 2023

Scene Point Blank is please to be sharing “Fastest Man Alive,” a new single from next month’s sophomore outing by Nashville, TN indie-punk band Dad Hats.

"Fastest Man Alive" is a story about that type of person that everybody has in their lives. That person who was born on third and thinks they hit triple, who never takes the blame for anything.

Whenever the consequences of his actions come, it’s never our protagonist’s fault. Of course not. He’s six foot five. He’s the fastest man alive. He just can’t catch a break, that’s all.

Hypothetically, if he accidentally shot himself in the leg in a nightclub with a gun he holstered in his pants? That wasn’t on him. It’s on the gun manufacturer for making the safety not work correctly. Car ran out of gas? No, no, the car maker obviously made the tank too small.

Oh to be the fastest man alive who never did anything wrong.

The band says, speaking of the song, with a matching video below. Musically, think earnest DIY roots with a pop sensibility, akin to bands like The Menzingers.

“Fastest Man Alive” is one of eleven new tracks on Spill, which releases in February via Mind Over Matter Records.
