SPB premiere: "Dark Passengers" by Conan Neutron & Friends

Posted in Videos on June 16, 2022

Conan Neutron & the Secret Friends has a new video for the title track from their third full-length album, Dark Passengers (Learning Curve Records, 2020). Check it out below. It is a concept album about depression and mental health -- subjects always worthy of discussion and reflection.

Speaking of the song “Dark Passengers,” Neutron explains:

This is one of many songs, explicitly about the depression that I, and many others, suffer from. Feelings of self-doubt, self-hatred, self-flagellation, etc. It is not a thing that happens to you, it is a thing that is part of you.

The band is about to hit the road (joined by S-E-R-V-I-C-E), in support of Dark Passengers, as well as a new split EP with The Erratic Retailator, a concept EP where each band picked three song titles in advance of writing without knowledge of what the other side was doing. 6 unique songs, 3 unique titles. Listen to find out how sides A & B compare.

Conan Neutron (ex-Replicator) formed the band band in 2015, joined by Dale Crover (Melvins) on drums and Tony Ash (Trophy Wives) on bass, with a revolving live cast to back it up, summed up nicely as “Influenced by classic rock, noise rock and post-punk. Big rock thrills in a post-punk package. Arena rock for smart-asses and malcontents.”

Think sweaty, loud rock that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Oh, by the way, they’ll also be taking over the Scene Point Blank twitter account for part of it.
