- Mumford And Sons- Sigh No More
What band did you discover in 2010 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
Bon Iver's "For Emma, Forever Ago" hit me at a pretty great time this year. I heard a couple songs from that record but officially fell in love with it one night when I got lost wandering around Montreal by myself. I don't think I've heard anything that lonely since I first listened to "Nebraska".
How will you remember 2010? (In terms of music)
This year has been unbelievable for music. I mean, Arcade Fire are getting nominated for fucking grammys, hitting #1 on the charts, and are selling out Madison Square Garden while still on an independent label! Here's the proof that major labels are completely worthless! Way to go team!
With more and more bands switching to digital methods of releasing music and communicating with audiences in 2010, do you think there's still a place for physical CDs and word-of-mouth shows in the future?
Journalists have been asking this question since the early 2000's and I think that alone shows that physical products are in fact still relevant. There's tons of great labels out there that have adapted to the changing marketplace. I think musicians and industry folk should get the idea out of their heads that they're going to make money in all this. Get a job somewhere else.
What can we look forward to from you in 2011?
A new record! We're hoping to record in March and have it out in the summer.
What three records are you looking forward to most in 2011?
- Title Fight
- Polar Bear Club
- Broadway Calls
