Trevor Reddell (Let Me Run)
What are your top five albums that were released in 2010? (In order 1-5)
- the menzinger "chamberlain waits"
- the gaslight anthem "american slang"
- tom petty "mojo"
- circa survive "blue sky noise"
- fake problems "real ghosts caught on tape"
What band did you discover in 2010 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
I finally sunk my teeth into Circa Survive. I HATED the material that band put out from the beginning, but while on tour over the summer Rocky put on the new album and it blew me away. The songs are layered and have depth, and they are just way more well thought out.
How will you remember 2010? (In terms of music)
2010 to me was a year that our band got our bearings straight. After losing two lead singers on two seperate occasions you are left thinking if it's worth it to continue. Obviously we stuck it out and now can't be more excited for the band.
With more and more bands switching to digital methods of releasing music and communicating with audiences in 2010, do you think there's still a place for physical CDs and word-of-mouth shows in the future?
There's two sides to this. There are the kids who troll the message boards to rip apart anything and everything because they feel invincible from behind an anonymous curtain. And then there are the kids who use the internet as a way to keep up with their favorite bands' activities, spread the word, etc etc. I also think that word of mouth will never die out. People will still talk and make suggestions, and tell their friends. Were not exactly attached physically to our computers...yet.
I think releasing music digitally is clutch nowadays. Its a great medium to get out music to fans as quickly as you record it. It curbs the short attention span. CD's will go the way of the dinosaur unfortunately, not yet, but soon. Its the changing of the times.
What can we look forward to from you in 2011?
A new fucking record!! That's what I'm looking forward to most. Were still writing, and seeing who wants to put it out. And obviously touring. We'll finally be back out on the road consistently. Good things, good things!
What three records are you looking forward to most in 2011?
I don't really keep up with exact release dates anymore. Ill listen to albums over the course of the year when I hear about them. But, I recorded an EP for a good friend of mine Michael Santostefano (Static Radio NJ), and I think its incredible. I don't know exactly when its coming out, but when it does you won't be disappointed.
