- Celeste - Morte(s) Nee(s)
- Castevet - Mounds of Ash
What band did you discover in 2010 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
None really. The last band doing that to me was Deathspell Omega and their records had a huge impact on my life, especially in 2010. I've been listening to them like non-stop.
How will you remember 2010? (In terms of music)
Mostly through the realization, that the underground and heavy music scene became an even bigger part of today's pop culture, rather than staying to it's subcultural roots. That's not something that developed only in 2010, but I just didn't realize it as much before as I did this year. The industry and a lot of bands are really exaggerating with chumming up to the mainstream and I think that this is the reason for the loss of substance in heavy music. You can't even blame the kids, they get it shoved up their asses this way.
With more and more bands switching to digital methods of releasing music and communicating with audiences in 2010, do you think there's still a place for physical CDs and word-of-mouth shows in the future?
I do think so, yeah. The vinyl market is booming for example and I really think that vinyl with an included download code is the coolest way to release a record. You have a collector’s item for your music collection and mp3 files for generation iPod.
What can we look forward to from you in 2011?
Since we just released our new full length 'MMX' we're mostly working on coming over to the states for SXSW and a full US tour in spring. We just want to tour to support the new record and if you havn't heard it yet, check www.facebook.com/wfahm and give it a chance.
What three records are you looking forward to most in 2011?
The new Gorguts is hopefully coming out and Glassjaw are talking about putting out another record for ever, so who knows?! And I heard Will Haven are working on new stuff with their original singer, and I couldn't ask for more.
