Javier Vanhuss (The Mistake)
What are your top five albums that were released in 2010? (In order 1-5)

- Integrity- the blackest curse
- Gehenna- the hope guzzo bootleg
- phantogram- eyelid movies
- wait what- the notorious xx
What band did you discover in 2010 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
in 2010 i both discovered a lot of new bands, and revisited a lot of older bands. i became enthralled by whole genres, and delved deep into them. the most moving would be Holy Terror, LLN, and witch house. all three of those genres promote DIY ethics and the raw, ugly reality of life. The AVV/CM split was the most played record of the year, and possibly ever for me. Ancient VVisdom recorded some very raw, moving material.
How will you remember 2010? (In terms of music)
i will remember 2010 as the year that i realized i dont need a band or a fancy recording studio to make music, and i dont have to make music to make noise.
With more and more bands switching to digital methods of releasing music and communicating with audiences in 2010, do you think there's still a place for physical CDs and word-of-mouth shows in the future?
yesterday i spent 10 euros (about 16 usd) on a limited edition cd from Mater Susperia Vision. sure, i can download anything i want. but sometimes bands put out a record that i want to hold, to experience, and that will hopefully never die. bands like Coalesce and Integrity putting out records with free digital downloads is such a perfect thing to me. i can play the record as "intended" at home, and listen to it in my car as well. plus, a lot of time the artwork is just something that cannot be transferred from a 12" sleeve or a paper flyer to the internet and have the same impact
What can we look forward to from you in 2011?
in 2007 i turned 30. i announced that i would record 30 songs that year. that didnt happen.
in 2011 i will turn 34. maybe i will record 34 songs. i would like to collaborate with some of my associates from around the world on making music. its so easy to record now, the only thing stopping me is the rest of my life.
What three records are you looking forward to most in 2011?
in 2011 i would like to hear a new Vegas record, the Gehenna chopped and screwed mixtape, and hopefully the new Backstabbers, INC jam.
