What band did you discover in 2010 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
Although he's been around for a long time and has a vast catalogue of music I would say that John Prine had a sincere impact on me in 2010. I stumbled upon a collection of his songs and it has been the soundtrack to 2010 for me. He is absolutely one of the most thoughtful songwriters I've ever heard and homeboy knows how to write a catchy song.
How will you remember 2010? (In terms of music)
I will remember 2010 as a year of travel and re-learning. 2010 took me to some places That I never thought possible for me and i feel like i had to re-learn what it was like to structure my life around music as opposed to structuring music around my life.
With more and more bands switching to digital methods of releasing music and communicating with audiences in 2010, do you think there's still a place for physical CDs and word-of-mouth shows in the future?
Absolutely... as far as word of mouth shows i think there will always be a place for that in the punk community and if that element gets lost in the mix then I would say it would be time to re-evaluate certain methods and motivations. Cd's though? who knows... one thing that struck me as a positive thing about 2010 was the focus on vinyl buying. It's really my favorite format for music and artwork so it's good to see young kids keeping it real.
What can we look forward to from you in 2011?
I'll be touring the hell out of 2011 and recording copious amounts of music for a new full length and some splits releases.
What three records are you looking forward to most in 2011?
- Wolves and the Radio - S/T
- Dan Webb and the Spiders - Much Obliged
- World Inferno Friendship Society
