Jihad (12 Gauge Records)
What are your top five albums that were released in 2010? (In order 1-5)
- Ceremony - Rohnert Park LP
- All Pigs Must Die - s/t
- United Nations, Never mind the bombings, here's your six figures
- Harms Way - No Gods, No Masters
- Das Racist - Sit Down, Man
What band did you discover in 2010 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
Neil Young continues to be one of my all time favorite artists. Seeing him live at Bridge School benefit with the turn out he gets every year gives me hope that good music never dies/goes unappreciated.
How will you remember 2010? (In terms of music)
2010 for me, musically, was a slow year. I diversified my taste big time and listened to a ton of Neil Young (as mentioned above), Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, etc... The music my dad handed down to me that got me through the rough year that it was for me.
With more and more bands switching to digital methods of releasing music and communicating with audiences in 2010, do you think there's still a place for physical CDs and word-of-mouth shows in the future?
I'm not sure about physical CDs but I know that I still enjoy buying them. I like looking at the liner notes and having something I can listen to in the car. It's a format that is easily accessible by a large amount of people, so I don't think we necessarily should be pushing it to it's death either. I don't think I should comment on shows because 2010 was a very busy year for me and as a result I failed to attend many shows that I would have liked to.
What can we look forward to from you in 2011?
2011 will be an incredible year for Twelve Gauge. I plan to take things a lot more seriously and focus on a few key things:
- improved marketing,
- more touring,
- more releases.
With merchandising handed over to Hellfish, I now have free time to focus on the business more. Stay tuned for an awesome year.
What three records are you looking forward to most in 2011?
The new Purple Mercy band, the rest of the Sabertooth Zombie Human Performance series and maybe something new from Ceremony?
